Kisses, Crabs and Cable Cars: A Fisherman’s Wharf Date for Two

January 26th, 2024 Local Tips

So you’ve chosen to whisk your love away to a San Franciscan adventure - we can’t blame you! And with Hotel Caza as your home base, you’re only walking distance from an incredible range of romantic, unique and fun things to do in SF with your date. We know you’re going to be tempted to stay in our cozy rooms (especially if you’ve booked with our Bubbly & Bites Package) but we’ve built out the perfect date for two in Fisherman’s Wharf! Grab your sweetheart and get ready for romance, because love is in the salty sea air!

Before you get started, did you book with our Bubbly & Bites Romance Package? If not, don’t worry! There’s still time to order a Romance Amenity for your sweetheart. Chat with our Front Desk Ambassadors to get one set up so it’s waiting in your room for you when you get back from your adventures along the Wharf!

Okay, now let’s get started.

First things first: breakfast. Right across the street from Hotel Caza is Eight AM, a charming cafe that offers New American, breakfast & brunch. You’re going to want to fuel your day early though, because a) you have a full day ahead of you and b) the wait here can get long! Secure your spot early (they open at 7AM) and enjoy your pick from parfaits and puddings, savory sandwiches, sweet waffles, loaded crepes and flavorful frittatas!

Now that you’ve left with a big smile and full stomach, come back to Hotel Caza to secure two Caza Cruisers (our complementary bicycles – included in your Destination Fee!) for your next adventure: a bike ride to the Golden Gate bridge.

Golden Gate Bike Ride

This is one of the most scenic and exhilarating things to do in San Francisco, hands down! You can follow this route for a mostly flat ride that will take you past the Maritime National Historic Park, through Fort Mason, by Crissy Fields, and right up to the Golden Gate Bridge Vista Point! The ride is about 23 minutes (3.8 miles) not including any stops for sightseeing and photos. If you’re feeling extra adventurous, bike across the bridge for additional views from the other side! Just be sure to follow these directions as biking permissions may vary depending on the day of the week.

After your bike ride, there’s no way you haven’t worked up an appetite! Next stop: Ghirardelli Square for some bites and refreshments.

Where to stop to eat in Ghirardelli Square depends on what you’re craving. If you are in the mood for Latin bites, agave-centric craft cocktails, local beer, and floor to ceiling windows that offer an incredible view of Alcatraz – then Barrio is your spot! If you’re more interested in seafood, steaks and oysters to pair with your captivating views of the San Francisco Bay, then McCormick & Schmick’s will be more your vibe. Are you looking for smaller bites to share? Maybe of the Asian variety? Palette Tea House offers upscale Chinese cuisine (and incredible dim sum) that is utterly delicious and totally IG story worthy! And if you’re just looking for a cold beer and classic bar bites after your long ride (we’re not judging, you earned it!) then San Francisco Brewing Co. is your spot! This craft brewing company brews beer in small batches to ensure freshness and focuses on creating delicious, easy-to-drink beers that can be found in numerous bars and restaurants throughout the Bay Area. Whatever you decide to eat – don't forget to top it off with a World-Famous Hot Fudge Sundae from Ghirardelli of course!

Now that you’ve conquered your morning and fueled up for your afternoon, it’s time to return the Caza Cruisers and hop on San Francisco’s historic Cable Car!

Tickets can be purchased in advance using the MuniMobile app. From Hotel Caza, getting on is just a short walk to the intersection of Taylor and Bay streets, then you can enjoy a ride on this National Historic Landmark right up to the Cable Car Museum! Admission is free and it’s open Tuesday – Sunday from 10AM – 5PM. Ride it up the hill, then ride it back down to get some of the most iconic views of the city (and some pretty awesome photos!).

It’s time to wrap up your day. We can’t think of anything more romantic than a sunset sail on the San Francisco Bay as the sun sets over the Pacific Ocean. You can buy tickets here for a 1.5 hour long serene, romantic experience where you’ll watch the city slowly light up behind you as the Golden Gate bridge glows in the dwindling sunlight. (OMG, we know!) Boarding is on Pier 39, Gate J, next to the sea lions!

After you deboard S.S. Loveship – take advantage of your location and treat your sweet to Pier 39’s waterfront dining!

Enjoy a dinner for two with some of the freshest and most delicious seafood dishes. With 12 full-service restaurants serving mouthwatering meals paired with fine California wines and stunning views of the San Francisco Bay – there is no better way to end the most romantic day.

Now that your day on the wharf is finally over – make your way back to your favorite hotel in San Francisco, Hotel Caza. At this point, your Bubbly & Bites package is waiting for you and your love in your room. (You’re so smart for booking our special offer in advance!) So lay back, relax and pop the bubbly!

Cheers to your special adventures! Come back soon. ☺️
